IMTech
The Mathematics Institute of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) · BarcelonaTech (IMTech) focuses its activity on promoting research in mathematics and related areas, aimed at capturing talent and resources, promoting interdisciplinarity, promoting knowledge transfer and support for quality research. Therefore we promote the research activity carried out in these fields of knowledge at the UPC, which is the institution with the highest scientific production in mathematics and related areas in Spain.
IMTech is a project promoted by teams of researchers in mathematics, statistics, mathematical engineering and computer science. Computational mechanics, bioengineering, bioinformatics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, astrodynamics, supercomputing, quantum computing, and game theory are, among others, the institute’s lines of research. which will be located at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics (FME) of the UPC. IMTech will also enhance existing master’s and doctoral programs.
The Governing Council of the UPC approved the agreement to create IMTech on December 2019. The resolution of the creation of this institute by the Generalitat de Catalunya took place on October 1st and was published in the DOGC on October 14th.
